Druid Table
THE DRUID’S TABLE was made from offcuts given to Willem Boshoff by the artists ChristianNerfand Douglas Gimberg. Using wood that Boshoff had originally given to them, Nerf and Gimberg crafted a series of beautiful objects, which they gifted back to Boshoff, with instructions to do with them as he pleased. Similarly to the way that sangomas throw bones before divining the future, Boshoff threw the objects onto the table before fixing them exactly where they fell.
Drawing on the centuries old shamanic tradition of diviners throughout the world he explains, “The throwing was a genuine act of attempting to let the objects be, and to land where they would.”
